Salah is a gift- a gift so great that Allah brought His Prophet (s.a.w) all the way above the heavens to deliver it.

But any parent knows that conveying that gift to our children can be immensely challenging.

It doesn’t help that we treat it like a chore instead of the blessing that it is.

Ask yourself, what language are you using to motivate them to pray?

“Allah won’t be happy with you”

“Why can’t you be more like so and so’s child?”

We get it, it’s tough communicating the importance of prayer without making it sound like an order.

But what are the consequences of that?

How are we shaping our children’s experience of the Salah?

Are we making it all about love or fear?

Islam might have suddenly clicked for you, but you can’t assume it will for anyone else, even your kids.

You can’t expect any child to be aspirational and enthusiastic about the salah without giving them the right inspiration.

“Because I said so” and “Because Allah said so” will only go so far (and that’s not very far FYI).

It’s time we went from simply educating to inspiring our children.

It’s time to get our kids excited about the salah, to see them blossom into empowered and confident believers.
